Power, People and Places

Our keystone package discovers the changing landscape of the far northern Limpopo Province showing how the arrival of different people played a role in the areas history. Why did farmers arrive here? How did they become so powerful? What happened to the Bushmen? On this trip, you’ll find the answer to these questions and many more.

Confluence Tours

The Limpopo Valley is an almost forgotten part of South Africa. Its beauty is in its barren, rocky dryness, so that to come here is to experience the true wild, the isolation of an Old Africa, which is untouched and also extremely unspoilt. Come stand at the lookout over the confluence of the Limpopo and Shashe Rivers that separate South Africa from Botswana and Zimbabwe, one of the truly awe inspiring sites of the area. We will also take you on a hilltop tour to both Iron Age capitals of K2 and Mapungubwe, where the famous golden rhino was found.
WILDLIFE

Birding

The Limpopo Valley is home to over 400 different bird species including the illusive Pel’s Fishing owl, Verreaux’s (Black) eagle, and Ground hornbill, as well as the rare Three Banded courser. Enjoy a specialised tour of some of the more exclusive and rarely visited parts of this area.

Game Drives

With a diversity of free-roaming carnivores as well as a rich variety of animal life, such as elephant, giraffe, white rhino, eland, gemsbok, and numerous other antelope species, our specialised guides will provide a memorable drive that captures the essence of the area, looking at how each species survives and lives alongside one another in this stunning part of South Africa.

Carnivore Research and Tracking Drives

Most of the large game species occur in the area, as do all six large carnivore species (lion, cheetah, leopard, wild dog, Spotted hyaena, and Brown hyaena). Come track these large carnivores and learn about the research being conducted. Other opportunities may arise to see the more elusive, smaller carnivores such, caracal, Bat-eared fox and Honey badger.
